Plane is a modern, open-source platform specifically designed to combine the three core areas of productivity – projects, knowledge and artificial intelligence – in a single system. It offers a powerful yet streamlined alternative for teams looking for a flexible solution without unnecessary overhead.

Projects, Wikis and AI in workspaces
Plane.so was developed with the aim of being easy to start using yet built for scalability. It eliminates the need for separate tools for work tracking and documentation and offers a further level of automation using artificial intelligence.
Unified Workspace
Honicon not only supports you in setting up and configuring security-related settings for solutions in your infrastructure, but also in selecting the right security features in the cloud and optimally adapting them.
Modularity
We set up systems in compliance with the GDPR, based on the highest data protection standards offered by your environment. This allows us to maximise the benefits within the framework of the applicable data protection regulations. The principle of purpose limitation always remains our central guideline.
Open Source
The Plane CE (Community Edition) core is open source, and it will remain so. This stable foundation is always yours to build on, ensuring you never lose control of your data. The Commercial and Air-gapped editions are built on top of the CE core.
Project- und Work-Management
Plane.so offers agile and flexible tools for software, project, or diversified business teams. Progress in work can be structured and made transparent across initiatives and roles.
Flexible views and planning tools
Teams can use their work in the views that best suit their needs and switch between them seamlessly at any time:
- Boards: Classic Kanban views for visualising the workflow.
- Scheduling: Gantt charts and calendars for visualising delivery timelines and dependencies.
- Lists & Tables: Displays lists and spreadsheets for efficiently managing large amounts of work items.
Additional features such as Epics, Cycles (sprints) with burn charts, and Modules (components) are integrated but can also be deactivated on a project-by-project basis.
Service desks with Intake
Plane.so transforms external enquiries into structured work items. The service desk can be accessed via three communication routes:
- In-app creation for internal users.
- Mail channels for creating work items from emails.
- Form capture using dedicated, secure forms on external platforms.
Hosting and Compliance
Plane.so was developed for organisations that place the highest demands on scalability, data security and compliance. 99% of the same functionality is promised with these hosting options:
- Self-hosting: Deployment in your own infrastructure, e.g. via Docker for the use of individual server instances or Kubernetes for a powerful data center setup.
- Cloud: Cloud environment (AWS) managed by the Plane team with regularly communicated updates that do not come as a surprise. For cloud-oriented companies or those without their own dedicated infrastructure.
- Air-gapped: For completely isolated, highly regulated setups. Here, Plane has already thought through how the systems should behave when they do not have internet access – completely without external calls.
Compliance & Security
Plane takes security seriously and has considered it from the ground up. The systems comply with important global security standards and regulations:
- GDPR (DSGVO)
- SOC 2
- ISO 27001:2022
Enterprise features are available: Support for SSO/SCIM (single sign-on/user provisioning) and granular, role-based access controls (RBAC). Audit logs of administrative activities and work items.
Integrated Knowledge Management (Wiki)
Unlike segregated systems, Plane.so brings documentation directly into your projects.
Wiki or project Pages: Create specifications, SOPs (standard operating procedures), onboarding documents or retrospectives in a central hub, for example, or store important information directly in the projects.
Linked work: Wiki pages can, of course, reference work items. Changes to work items are displayed live, so documentation and project status are always synchronised.
Versioning: Full version history allows you to track changes and restore older versions.
Collaboration: The rich text editor supports Markdown and real-time collaboration with live updates. Content can also be published for users who are not licensed in the system.
Plane Intelligence (Pi) and Automation
Plane AI (Pi) is the integrated artificial intelligence that not only assists with content creation, but can also actively take on tasks in the workspace.
Pi can create items, assign tasks, draft requirement documents, or detect duplicates as an assistant – all based on natural text input.
Plane Agents are your autonomous AI team members that can react to changes in the system. Examples of their use include:
- Automatic assignment of bugs based on content.
- Posting chat messages when an item becomes noticeable in processes.
- Triggering GitLab deployments when status changes occur.
Flexible deployment: Agents can be created either via a simple no-code UI or using YAML editors.
